SPRING TERM 23rd February 2007
WELCOME
BACK
I trust all
enjoyed half term and that not too many of you picked up this horrible flu
virus that seems to be doing the rounds at the moment. Our staff are normally a very healthy bunch
but a number of them have been ill both during and since half term. However spring is around the corner so let’s
hope for healthier times ahead.
SAD NEWS
Two of our
families sadly lost beloved grandparents recently. We ask your prayers for Rebecca Charles
granny who died earlier this week and for Joseph McKeown’s granddad who died
during half term. We send them our
special love at this sad time.
AFTER
SCHOOL SPORTING ACTIVITIES
Our programme
of activities begins next week and all applications received have been
guaranteed a place. Please make sure
you know when each activity ends so that children are not left waiting late in
the afternoon. Thank you.
BINGO
The good
news is that this is completely SOLD OUT, so if you have sent back a slip your
name will have been added to the list of participants. It does mean that if you have not pre-booked,
you may not ‘pay on the door’. Please
remember to bring with you your own drinks and nibbles. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start and the
evening finishes at approximately 8.30pm.
COURSES
If you are
thinking of working within a school or want to help your child with numbers in
a fun way, free courses are currently being run at the Marish Sure Start
Children’s Centre – further details can be obtained by telephoning Grace on

BOOK FAIR
Our book
fair will be set up in the old terrapins and books will be on sale after school
every day for one week from March 5th. Each class will have a chance
to visit the fair and have an opportunity to buy a book.
WORLD BOOK
DAY
Thursday 1st
March is World Book Day and, as in the past, your child will be bringing home a
World Book Day Book Token that can be redeemed in participating bookshops,
including at our forthcoming book fair.
FIRST HOLY
COMMUNION
There is a
meeting for parents of children making their First Holy Communion on Monday 26th
at 7pm in
MAY DAY
FETE
The next
meeting for the May Day Fete organisers takes place in the Red Lion Pub, St
Mary’s Road at 7.30pm on Thursday 1st March.
FUNDRAISING
Lent is a
time when we try to do a bit more for others less fortunate than ourselves, and
each week during Lent a group of our Year 6 children will be organising
fundraising events to support charities including Wellbeing and CAFOD. Events taking place include a penalty shoot
out and a bad hair day. We start next
Friday with a cake sale and any donations of cakes will be gratefully
received. Please don’t forget to send
your child with a little money! Thank you very much.
God bless
one and all. Anne O’Connor
